Old snap on ratchets

I have 2 old snap on ratchets I got from my grandfather, not sure how old they are but they look and feel pretty old. What I wanted to know are there new internals I can put in these that have 80 teeth rather than the ones that are in there now with about 15 teeth.

Nice! That's a great way to come in possession of some good old used tools. They have some personal heritage. If you want 80 teeth you'll have to spring for a new one, the guts don't fit the old ratchets, they're totally different inside. You should be able to bump those to 30 teeth though. The pt# is on the handle. I have one dual 80 but I still use the old ratchets a lot. Fine tooth is only an advantage in close quarters.

You have 36 tooth ratchets, the flex head looks to be from the 80's and the fixed handle ratchet has the date code stamped in between the on/off switch. I'm not sure the year on that one but it can be looked up on collectingsnapon. The dual 80 guts will not fit in your ratchets but if you clean them up or get rebuild kits and lube them they are still great ratchets.

The standard length has a 1980 date code. The flex head I think is a little older .
Nice rats to use as is.

Yes they are nice and I like them it's just most of my other ratchets are 88 tooth Matco and I just always tend to use them because they feel so much smoother.

I picked a couple of older ratchets like those used..........when the bolts get real tough, I put the fine tooth stuff away and grab these. Put a little grease in em and use them. I dont care what anyone says.......those older snap on ratchets are the toughest ratchets ever made.

Call Snap-On. I just got a free rebuild kit for a F71G (1970 to 1977 vintage) rat I snagged from a pawn shop. Lady was probably one of the nicest phone people I've ever dealt with.

Those ratchets are 20 tooth, but the rebuild kits will make them into a 30 tooth. Give me the model numbers and I'll give you the kit numbers.
