Old socket set

Was given old socket set made in USA only identified with R-1234 ( 4 numbers) on sockets and R-10 on ratchet. Any idea what company? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum from Southwestern California. I used to work (1960-1961) at United Auto in Anchorage, Alaska. That store sold some Penens (it was years ago, I may have forgotten how their name was spelled) Tools. I assisted several customers who chose some of those tools.

Pennes was regarded as a “good enough” tool sold to non professional mechanics. To the best of my recollection they were not regarded as being Professional Quality.

United Auto was not well regarded as a Professional Auto parts distributor, but they were in my opinion a clone of Pep Boys.

United was open Seven Days a week and closed late, and advertised itself as being the place for DIY and others to get cheap prices on lesser known brands of parts.

That was a long time ago, and my memories may no longer be accurate.
