I am sorting my old sockets and I found this with Ray the other day. I have tried to find a match with no success. Anyone have an idea who made and sold it? Thanks.DSCF6588.JPGDSCF6589.JPG

Try using electrolysis to remove the rust and you may be able to see the maker's marks. Wire wheels often tend to burnish the rust, as opposed to removing it. It is super easy to set up.

I have MAC and WRIGHT sockets with a similar shape.

Mechanics Allied Clinton has been around since the mid forties, which is plenty of time for your old socket to get crusty. Electrolysis is fun. You really should try it. It wouldn't surprise me if you were able to see markings after a bit of fizzing.

I may build me a system soon. But I am pushing toward Wright for Wright had no embossing and their marks were very faint to start with new back in the forty's. But very thin walls don't look right. hum. This thing is very pitted. Thanks tho guys.
