Old Sockets with Stars on them?

I picked up what I thought was a Hinsdale socket set at an estate sale last week. It turns out it was a Hinsdale case with 1 Hinsdale socket, Indestro ratchets, and some misc. sockets, most of which look like these. I've come across these before in random old sockets I've bought, but see no brand marking on them other than the star on each side of the size. Are these the original Harbor Freight sockets of their day? Any idea how the manufacturer might be?

Also, what the heck is the thing over to the right?

That looks like a valve grinder adapter. You put it on the end of a speeder and lapped valves with it. Some of them were fixed size, some of them were adjustable, like yours.

Yes, valve grinder attachment. Bog also made sockets with stars.

Excellent, thanks for the information guys! That would make sense why the Indestro ratchets were also there.
