old style Craftsman lighted extension: replace the batteries?

I just got a couple of the old style extensions that use a "grain of wheat" light bulb and look like a modified spark plug socket.

Has anybody figured out how to replace the batteries in these things???

Grasp the red end with pliers or vice grips and pull hard. Be careful as the light is spring loaded and may fly out and get lost. You can then see what type battery to replace in it.
