Hi guys,

I have found an old FEIN 1/2 inch drill mounted on an equally old drill stand. The power cord is missing, but looking at the data plate I see that it is three phase, which leads me to belive it was used possibly as a production tool in a factory. With my limited German, I also see that the RPMs are 440, and the chuck is stamped ROHM, and it is held in place with a morse taper. There is not the slightest plastic part anywhere on this tool, even the triger is steel. Not the most practical thing in the age of cordless variable speed drills, but certainly a hell of a conversation piece, once polish it up. If any of the german power tool experts have an indication of its age, I would be most thankful.

Nick

Rom is one of the major chuck manufacturers, and they still supply either most, or all, of the drill chucks Fein uses on their driills.

Fein still manufacturers large drills of that size that can use morse taper drill bits, or a morse taper adapter for a drill chuck.

Fein was still using a white motor housing for their tools in 1968. An ad from 1977 posted on the Fein website in the history section shows an orange pipe milling machine. The ad is from 1977 so Fein likely switched over to an orange color by then.
