I picked this up at a second hand store last weekend. After spending hours on Google, I only found one other like it, and it was listed as a "Patent Applied for", "Alligator Pliers Wrench". So, my question is, has anyone ever seen one with a Manufactures Name on it? I have tried Google patents, Datamp, Alloy Artifacts, and do not see it. I'm not familliar with the advance search options on Google patents, or Datamp, so any help in that area would also be appreciated. PS: I forgot to say, It has a small coil spring that keeps it in the 1st picture position.

Thanks,

Wayne

Advanced...tools allow you a phrase line (alligator pliers wrench), an "or" line that allows you to put in multiple names for something (like if you wanted to find vise grips, wrench or pliers), lines for assignee (usually a company) and inventor, and date lines.
This thing is a problem because of the lack of a date or an actual patent...and of course, the "patent applied" may have failed so there's nothing there to find.
If I were hunting this thing, sinve the number of pliers and wrenches is huge, I would try flying guesses on date range and put in features like cam and lever...but it will be hard since there are so many patents for adjustable gripping tools.

Wayne,
Does Bus Haury post here? If not, try putting it on tooltalk, maybe he'll see it. That is a really strange tool.

Another thing...when you find a patent for something similar, look into the other patents referred to in there!
