Old tools

I received some exellent tools from my pops the other day including mostly Snap on and Mac.
My question is this:
About a quarter of them have some surface rust.
Most are in great shape.
What is the best way to get the rust off and then restore that beautiful Chrome look?

Rub with fine steel wool and oil. Soak the more heavily rusted tools in evaporust.

Stricht8 is correct. I have never scratched a tool using 0000 steel wool. It works great.
