I've been slowly cleaning up my garage, and found a couple of things I've had for years. Are these worth anything? Worth restoring?

I have a much nicer vice and grinding wheel that I actually use. These have been on the shelf for years. If they have any value, I may clean them up for fun or maybe sell them. If they don't I'll stick them in the dollar bin at our next yard sale.

Anyone with any info?

Nice little Dunlap vise Eldirector.
Dunlap was the Sears economy line in the 40's-60's at least.
I have a similar Simplex vise that is great for light indoor activities. I'd bolt it up for hobbies, kids stuff, small animal de-nutting .....if you have room somewhere.
Small vises come in handy when it's too cold to go out in the shop.

The grinder looks about the same era.

I have two of these dunlaps. I really like them. I have one of them mounted on my work bench. Although I have other bigger vises for larger job, but this one can pretty much take on most of my daily needs without taking up too much bench space.

Here is some information about Sears and the Dunlap brand.

Beat me to it autopts, that's my Dunlap resto mounted up on a "Roll-A-Bench, and a 6" grinder mounted up on the other end.
I vote, clean it up, and put some lipstick on it. Not a pig.
Cool grinder too, just me, but I'd hold onto that too.
Sentimental I guess, probably not worth much to most peeps, but I bet it has history with you and your shop.

I dont think either are work restoring or need restoring unless you want to display them for some reason

the vise is usable, bolt it in place and use it

the grinder looks like one I have that is rather underpowered. install a fine grinding wheel on it and it will be good to use for final finish sharpening

ditto on just bolt them to something and get to using them!

Sorry Guys, when I say "restore" I mean mechanical, Clean out old grease(if any), Broke stuff(leadscrew nut pin) Rust, Lube her up (grease, oil, antiseize)
and use it.
Makeup & Prom Dress, are optional.

I didn't think about a fine wheel and maybe a brass brush. "Underpowered" isn't the half of it, and the main reason I never use it.

Thanks for all the great info, guys! The vise may get cleaned, shot with some spray paint, and pressed back into service (if I ever get my bench built). I'll see what it will cost to get new wheels on that grinder. V/8garage may get a PM if I decide to let her go.

I really like the style of that grinder, if you decide to let her go and are in the NE PM me, I imagine we could maybe work something out... yes I have a couple grinders already.
