Old Vice ID Help

Gentlmen,
My friend recently purchased an old bench top vice. We are having trouble identifying it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There are no markings on it at all.
We are looking for make/model/etc. Really any info would be fantastic.

Odd vise whats it for?

Here is a vise thats been in my basement for sometime. I have no clue what its intended use is. The jaws lift right off and have no serrations to them. It is a hanson vise. Anybody know what it is used for?. Maybe some kind of tin work.
