Hi I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on this old axe does it have a lot of life left and what style do is it thanks I appreciate it

American pattern felling axe. Looks okay. Don't see a maker's mark. Wedge looks weird/redone.

Ok thank you is the American pattern similar to the tasmanian style the brand is Hytest do you think it has enough life left for a while thank you

Hytest is Australian? Designed for hardwoods? I thought it looked a little thick. Not sure what you have in mind for that. Axes are fairly specialized. This one was probably made to pop chips from VERY hard woods when felling. It could make an okay splitter because the edge looks pretty convex. It probably won't do great in softwoods or for limbing.

I live in Kentucky so I was thinking to use it for splitting for hardwood I am new to older axes is it a problem that is looks like the edge looks off center a little bit thanks

If the head doesn’t move then all I’d do is slowly soak the top wedge area in boiled lindseed oil and then put a few coats of boiled linseed oil on the handle and finally sharpen the blade. You should be good. I’ve restored many of axes. It’s easy and enjoyable, for me. It’s a good tool to have.
