So I found a pack of dust covered Irwin vise grips that are made in USA, also has the stamping on the handle. I found a couple more that says "Made in USA", but no stamping on the handle. And there are some more on the shelf that says "Made in USA with Global Components". Then of course the majority are the made in China ones.
Anyway, I was wondering besides the made in China ones, are there quality differences among the "Made in USA" variants?
1. Package says "Made in USA". Handle has USA stamping. --> The best I suppose.
2. Package says "Made in USA". Handle has no USA stamping. --> Identical to the above? Or is it made with global components?
3. Package says "Made in USA with Global Components". --> Probably just assembled in USA with parts from China. Not far better from made in China ones quality wise?
And a side question: for the other tool brands that proudly says Made in USA (ex. Channellock), if it doesn't say made with global components, then it's 100% USA? Is there a law requiring the company to say so if the product is made with global components? I noticed some Stanley tape measures also says "Made in USA with Global Components".
Thanks!
