A few Walden Worcester to share. One is duplicated from a previous post, but quite a bit cleaner.

That's a cool and uncommon valve lapper, oob.

As I was saying on the Blackhawk thread, I don't usually show tools before I clean them, but with a busy day ahead of me tomorrow, and New Years almost upon us after that, I am cataloging now, cleaning later, just to make some room. These are all the Walden-Worcester tools I picked up in that welded/fixed socket wrench era lot I ran into at the flea market (also included Mossberg, Blackhawks and a few odds and ends from Indestro and Bog).

attachment.php

Now all I need to run into is a 1920's era board!

Tee handles are...
2625 (25/32")
2620 (5/8")
2619 (19/32")
2616 (1/2")
2614 (7/16")

Tee-Flex handles...
01016 (1/2")
1020 (5/8")

Loop-handled offsets are...
2514 (7/16")
2515 (1/2")
2524 (3/4")
2525 (25/32")

5810 (5/8") Ford Connecting Rod Wrench

Speeders...
6014 (1/2") speeder with doorknob end
6018 (9/16") brace with doorknob end
6020 (5/8") speeder with doorknob end
6020 (5/8") with ball end

Rim wrenches
X1756 (3/4") with pry bar end
X1602 (11/16") speeder with doorknob end
X1602 (11/16") double end speeder

Picked this up in package deal at local flea this afternoon. Empty n a little brittle, but never came across one yet. Paper on inside of the lid is double sided, but stuck to the lid pretty well. Now to research and find what I need to fill it, unless someone else can use it, shoot me a fair offer.

I found two Walden pieces this weekend.

The first was a Walden Worcester 6020 fixed socket 5/8" hex spinner.

The second was a Walden Worcester 1/2 drive socket that is unmarked.

As a fan of Walden tools, I was unable to resist buying this 3/8” drive palm ratchet when I spotted it on eBay.

Among the early sockets I found at a tool sale on Monday was this Walden socket.

I traded another tool collector for this Walden #21 drain plug set. This was his spare set. It’s missing the driver and T-bar, but is otherwise complete and in nice condition.

Thanks Lugz, it could be a very difficult part to find according to the guy I got the set from. But you never know. One might pop up.

As you may know, I turn up some unusual pieces at flea markets here, to include antique WW. So I will gladly accept the challenge! :) Now that I have seen it, not having paid much attention to that set - seen only in illustrated form while paging through old hardware store catalog ads, before, it will increase the odds of me recognizing the No. 1124 Tee Handle in the pile of miscellaneous stuff in the bottom of the old box it might could likely turn up in. I am not making any even near-promises on the tommy bar, though.

Here’s a partial 1/4” set I picked up at a thrift store. I think it might be war period based on the mostly cad plated pieces. Also a 3/8” ratchet and a 1111 1/2” tee handle. The tee seems unusual because it’s only marked Walden and the head comes off the bar.Adjustments.jpgView attachment 1

It is. A few of us WWII collectors have a few of them. And not just war period, but military surplus. That number stamped on the top in white is the Federal Stock Number for the 1/4-inch drive wrench set in the wartime General Mechanics Tool-Set, or "GMTK" (for General Mechanics Tool Kit, a moniker it picked up in the 80's), as we call it.

I’m always looking for those for my WW2 sets. I would be interested in doing a trade for yours if you’re willing to let it go. Here is yours and one of mine.

It's just a speeder from the fixed socket era. Instead of a speeder with a square drive stud on the end that you can put any size socket you want on, in that era they had one speeder for every size socket, the sockets either permanently pinned or welded or forged on, believe it or not! Same with regular socket wrenches, offset socket wrenches, etc. And that extra ripple in the handle would be wasted torque for a jack crank.

EDIT: But nice find!

The FSN Walden set from John arrived today and not only will the box be going into my GMTK, the extra sockets helped to fill out some other Walden sets in progress. Thanks again!

That’s a cool set with all three drive sizes and the bullet handled ratchet. This partial postwar 1/4” drive set arrived today. All of the sockets were included but I’ll need to add a few drive tools.

Thanks Don. Thought it was an interesting set with only a 1/2" ratchet and 3/8 and 1/4 adapters. Looks like a nice fridge ratchet in that set.

Picked this oldster up today:

It wasn't complete, but I went through my misc. Walden and got it most of the way there. Still need some extensions and an 11/32 socket.

There is no H in Worcester guys! It is pronounce Woosta around here.

This often causes a good natured laugh when it crops up with American tourists here in the city of Worcester and it's county. And the sauce. The places with names ending in 'cester' were once sites of Roman military camps but none of them are pronounced 'cester' (Latin, meaning 'Camp'). Here's one explanation of how we say it:
...there is a linguistic phenomenon called vowel reduction that means that unstressed vowels tend to get dropped, and at least in some cases it’s more common in British English than in American English. For example, in American English we say “secretary” and “February,” but in British English, the words are more likely to be pronounced with vowel reductions so they sound like “secretry” and “Februry.”
