old walker c94 3 ton mechanical floor jack

I found an old Walker c94 mechanical floor jack today. It is heavily rusted and not operational. I am curious what others think about whether it might be worth restoring to sell to a collector. Or if it might be sellable as it is.

First and foremost, LOCATION PEOPLE!!!! It's important. values vary across the country. Non-op and rusty. To me, scrap price. unless it is super cool. My buddy has a big old jack, 1940's art deco design. I like it, however it has one VERY cool feature, it has a head light!!!! I have offered him a blank check for it. He wont take it. He's not a ********* tool guy, but he won't let it go.

I think you're probably on to something there Senior. She's a heavy one for sure. I did get it working with some P B Blaster. Not very well because of the rust but It could be restored if someone had an interest in such a dinosaur.

Oh thats a pretty cool piece. It looks to be a fully mechanical jack. Little more work to lift the load, but NO chance of it "bleeding" down on you. If it was local to me, I'd toss you a $50. Not saying that is what it's worth, just that is what it's worth to me.

Thanks for the welcome Keith. That's what i guessed for a fair price on it as is. Certainly better than the scrap value. I think I'm going to make a fun project out of it. I would hate to see it just disappear. Not sure what I'm getting into yet but a learning experience if nothing else. Maybe I'll see what I can do about installing a headlight. Ill probably use this forum for advice as I go along.

Look into diy rust removal.

This process works very well, is cheap and safe. Would be a great way to clean that up, then spray on a nice coat of enamel paint. A little pinstriping on the lettering to make it pop. Grease up the pivot points, and it we be good to go for another 100 years!! Plus you get the satisfaction of doing it. A little garage therapy. It's cheaper than that couch, and the project won't tell you it's all your mothers fault!! Keith

Glad you decided not to scrap it, there's a jack thread with a similar looking one only a hydraulic version. It's been restored and I think it's the coolest one on there.

How would you compare using it to a hydraulic type?

It has the wheel on the right to bring the saddle up quick. It won't drop ( like a hyd. jack failure) unless you flip the peddle on the left then move the jack handle. Also, you can jack something down one notch at a time or if you get the handle swinging, it will jack itself down. It does have a longer reach too but won't go up as high as my Snap-On YA-700. One of these days, I want to compare it head to head to my recently rebuilt Snap-on YA-700 to see which is easier to move the handle to jack up something.

Mine is one year newer and I love it. It is great to lift the antique cars up with and is rated a 1.5 or 2 tons. I saw take it apart and clean it up and use it. There is a video here of a guy who restored his and it came out so good I would be afraid to use it.
