While picking up some parts for my 69 Mustang from a guy that works at a scrap metal yard, I found what I believe to be an old Walker transmission jack. From what I can read on the tag I believe it says No. 44 unicradle automatic transmission jack. Looks like the bottom of the tag says Walker manufacturing company. Does anyone have any info on these.
what paint is left on the tag is yellow, there is no paint left on the rest of the jack. The screw that adjust the cradle itself is bad but the rest seem to work good. I'm going to clean it up and try to repair it, hopefully I can fix it, it will be handy in the shop when i'm working in the old truck and Mustang. This one looks similar to mine.

i can't read the tag well enough to see the weight rating, but it's certainly not Light, it's stout enough I could probably lift a 10 speed fuller for a semi. The picture does it no justice, i'm going to try to get a good picture o fmine and post it with something with it so compare it's size and build to.

Sometimes it takes a while. That jack is definitely a Walker Jack made back in the 1950's. Its still very usable even today. No Hydraulics, no seals to leak. That Trans jack with its adjustable unicradle could take down a Dynaflow as well as todays RWD cars. That was that Cadillac of Trans Jacks back in the 50's.

I have an adapter that makes my regular floor jack into a jack like that. I do not like it because as it doesn't go straight up and down, it also swings forward and back. Kind of a nuisance to land the transmission. I have seen a scissor jack version that looks a little more user friendly.

Sorry for the tangent. That is an interesting looking jack. I am curious how the OP's ever turned out.

I just picked up one of these for $100. Identical to the ones in these pictures. Can you guys give me a picture of your tag? The fool that had mine spray painted right over it. Im going to guess no one on here still comes to the site but worth a shot.

Just saw this post and had to respond. I have had the same jack for 35 years and it is the BEST. Like was stated earlier, no seals to leak and it is great for rwd, although I have used it for fwd also. Made adapters for most transfer cases also. Great score.
