Sounds like your typical Hydraulic Shop BS.. I just need to know what you need? New Seals? Pump Piston? Compression Nut? Tank nut? Double check that model number also. Its all available...

hey hiball,
yes that's what i thought too. this was about a year ago and i don't remember what the said was broke. at the time it was leaking fluid and not building pressure to lift the saddle.
as far as the model # that is what is stamped on the underside of the pump itself. and some where along its life the id tag on the bottom of the handle was removed.
I'm not sure exactly what i need. all i know is I'd like to fix it because the ranger jack that i bought to replace this is not cutting it.

Sounds like you will need to tear it down then, "IF" they actually tore into the jack it should come apart fairly easy. Im guessing by the pic its a 784/884, It could be a 782/882 which would be a 2 ton but its hard to judge the unit size by the offset pic. Model Tag should be at the base of the Handle, Normally riveted on.

can you give some guidance on tearing the pump down, and what to look for.

You first have to get the pump out of the Frame, Its pretty straight forward as you have to split the Frame to remove the unit. Again.. If they actually tore it down everything should be Lose and you wont have any issues.

any chance you have a unit for exchange?

I dont have any 4 ton units available, I do have a 882 which would be the 2 ton but i would have to have some measurements from your unit to confirm it would work as different series had different lengths.

Re: Another old walker jack

Hello, like several others I have a Walker 2ton Roll-A-Car jack with a leakage problem at the cylinder. I rebuilt it myself 10 years ago but recently it began to leak again so I took it to a hydraulic repair shop. The shop called today and said the piston and the cylinder housing have pitted due to rust and corrosion. The rod will need re-chromed and the cylinder welded and ground down otherwise replacement seals will only get cut up by the pitting. I'd rather not replace it with a cheap chinese cylinder are does anyone have suggestions? The cylinder part number is G874
Thanks
