Old water pump

I have two old water pumps that I am trying to find info on. They both are the same and have Wisconsin engines. I have one running but don't have a clue if they will pump, assuming it will though. Anyone have any idea on these old things. Gorman Rudd 722975 is stamped on the pump. The engine is 82H2-AENLD whatever that means . Thanks for any help and if what I have is worth even keeping. The AENLD engine was made by Wisconsin. They are good old engines, but very heavy. It was introduced in 1957, produces 9.2 HP at 3600 RPM, and has a 3.0" bore and 3.250 stroke. The "D" in the designation indicates a Stellite exhaust valve and seat for longer life. It is still listed as available from Wisconsin.

Gorman Rupp is a well-known maker of pumps.

Got any idea what these would be worth ?

I really don't have any use for them as of now and they are in my way at my shop.

Like I mentioned one runs fine but have not tried the other one. I may fill a 15 gal can this week with water and see how it pumps. I am betting it will be fine. Tom

No idea on worth. I googled the number but got nowhere. Are they centrifugal pumps? What size inlet and outlet?

They are centrifugal pumps. The inlet and outlet are 2 inches. It had some more numbers on them. Wisconsin- AEDLD2 408054 5937814. Don't know what these number mean but I got them anyway. Thanks for the help. I will search more. Tom

If you've ran them without water-You Fried the Seal. If it IS a "packing" seal---IT IS MADE TO LEAK! In other words, a drip or two is NORMAL. That is the way it was made, and it's an easy seal to re-pack. Most likely the old packing is asbestos, or graphite impregnated asbestos. There are mechanical seals you can get to replace it with, or just get some packing....simple.

15 gallons isn't even a start for a pump that size. You'll need a 55 gallon barrel to **** out of, and just dump it back in.

Does it spin by hand? And does it sound like the impeller is "clear"? If there is anything in there, you will damage the impeller.
Bolts do have a way of finding their way in there.....

Oh...you may have to prime it before it will pump.

We did crank it just to see if it would run and it was dry. Didn't run it but a few seconds. These pumps have been sitting for several years but looked like someone made sure they would start after sitting. I will try the 55 gal drum and see if it will pump. Thanks. Tom
