I bumped into an old friend the other day and during our discussion of tools the subject of older vintage tools came up. He relayed to me a story of an old guy who lived on the outskirts of town and spent his life collecting old tractors and tools. He passed away a few years ago and his estate got rid of his tractors as they were easy to sell. His tools on the other hand, well, it seems all his hand tools ended up at a local consignment shop. I went down there this afternoon to see for myself and HOLY COW!! The tools are packed in piles that are over a foot high and scattered around the shop in various corners. The guy spent time researching the marking them all with the brand of manufacturer and what kind of tractor they might fit(?). They look to be clean with just a patina of dust and light oxidation. I figured I'd mention this in case anyone is interested. I don't know what kind of price they are asking as nothing in the shop was marked. I am thinking of going back tomorrow and inquiring. I'll be happy to supply contact info if anyone collects this kind of antiques. Maybe I'll try to sneek a picture of the tools with my phone...
