Good machinist vise that was an anniversary only model. they bring 2-400 depending on area. fab shops love them for the increased jaw height.
this model also came as a power screw that are worth even more. usually they had smooth jaws

I just don't value the older pre 1980s Wilton's when they weren't cut on CNC machines (with the exception of their older wood vises from the 50s and 60s that are USA and seriously beefy).
Wilton's are all over the place on used prices. I've seen 5-10 year old 400s/450s for less than $200 with a base.
Not sure why anyone would value that at $400. Personal preference I suppose.
Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If it's $50 or $1000.
Auctions are a prime example, I saw 2 guys get into a bidding war a few years ago over a stack of 1/2" OSB. He ended up paying over $25 /sheet (lowes had them for $6.99). My brother and I just sat back and said "just how stupid are these guys going to get?
My area is back 40. I get what you're saying though. Title Wilton Bullet Vise so I'm sure it got a lot of attention. No big deal though it sounded like he needed money a lot more than I needed another vise. I've actually been planning on building my own anyway.
