Have had these bunch of broken wooden handles screwdrivers for a while now unsure what to really do with them.. try to fix some, take them apart and scrap them, give them away for someone to make something out of them… I dislike throwing things away like to recycle/upcycle them. Let me know your thoughts.

Or yard art, disposable tools etc

If they're sentimental or special in some way you could always rehandle
Some handles are completely gone other the tips are just screwed… I don’t care for hard art but
I'd definitely be restoring the best of them. Sanding, painting and polishing the metal til they look like new.....well kinda.
yea some handles are toast and some of the tips are broken as well…. Didn’t want to throw them away… just threw it out there to see if it’s worth even trying to fix or create something else out of them.

A lot of them probably aren't worth the effort but the better quality ones can be restored. There are a jillion screwdriver restoration videos on YouTube to use for instruction.

I'd chuck a nice piece of hardwood in the lathe and start turning new handles. Make them fancy or plain.
I touch up the tips carefully on a bench grinder as they get worn.
Additionally, extra screwdrivers can be made into paint can openers, small chisels, scratch awls....
Some applications may need heat treating of some kind. What you have is metal on a stick, make it into whatever you want.

357magdad on YouTube would likely buy the whole lot from you. He has a thing for wood handled screwdrivers. Similar to Scoutcrafter...

Do not throw them away or recycle them. There are buyers looking for these.

There are some **** vintage wood tool dudes that would buy them just for the handles if the handles were name brand and decent. I see a few old stanley screw drivers in there. They qualify.

always a few good finds in there… these two I found while going through a huge 35 gallon tub of screwdrivers.

I can always find those by searching tank screwdrivers. I don't know if they were actually issued in tanks during WW2, but that was what I wad told. Those German ones you have are awesome.

I have used Chinese knockoffs for 40 years and have never used hammered on a screwdriver.

Will I be voted off the GJ island if I were to suggest throwing them away?
We'll start our own island, then, free of ancient useless ****.

Seriously, folks... screwdrivers are consumables, not heirlooms, and flat blades are 90% useless anyway.

If you can't stand to bin them, chuck them into a flat rate box and offer to send them to clutter someone else's garage and baffle their heirs for the cost of shipping.

I love vintage wood handled screwdrivers, but I don’t want to spend the time to repair damaged ones.

I would throw them away or recycle the steel.

You could donate them to the ReStore, where they'll put them into one of the half dozen bins of similar broken tools. I figure that somewhere near the bottom there's something worth buying, but there never is.

I’d take the ones with decent handles and heat the shafts to bend them how you want and grind the tips down to make hose picks. Thats what I’m going to do with old beat up screwdrivers I find at some point.

They could be made into awls, tack pullers, bearing cap removers, pry tools.

Definitely don't throw them away or toss them into the recycle. Screwdriver shanks are good steel - don't want to waste that. Send whatever you can't use to me - I'll do something with 'em and give 'em happy home.
