Old Woodworking Bench Vise

Doe anyone know the manufacturer of this old 75lb woodworking bench mounted vise?

It has 13 inch jaws and can handle a 15 inch wide board. This vise is at least 55 to 60 years old. I couldn’t find any model number or manufacturer designation anywhere on the vise.

It looks cast to me. I don't know many people who are casting vise parts at home.

I have no idea who made it but it dose look very nice.

I added some other photos. It does look cast and machined. There is an internal plate and four adjustment screws on one side. Being so big and heavy I’m assuming that this had been a commercial quality woodworking bench vise.

With a very quick search, I came up with "G. A. Walker" Machine Co. out of Boston, as a very possible mfg. It seems that these vises were manufactured in the very early 1900's, much older than I anticipated.



Congratulations, your vise appears to be very sought after by tool collectors.

The large fly wheel handle was somewhat standard for piano maker’s vises, but the vises can vary a bit.
I don’t think it has been absolutely determined if there was one or more makers for the style of vise, and if so, who the makers were.

That is quite a vise very cool great find. I never heard of a piano makers vise before. The hude hand wheel is awsome.
