I noticed the same thing the other day when I was getting some 4x4 boxes. I always thought old work boxes were like remodel boxes where the wall is already covered and you needed a box to grab onto the wall sheathing instead of being attached to a stud.

With the exception of the last link, they are all worthless items, because of the mounting brackets I would not call them "old work boxes".

Those are not old work boxes IMHO. If you have to open the wall enough to nail it in, it's basically new work even if the wall is 60 years old LOL. And old work boxes are great for new work when your wife can't decide exactly where she wants the light switch.
