Picked up an old Snap On wrench set basing the value on what was to me being I would use em everyday and wouldn't have to 500+ on another set. Once I researched I found they were 1948 5/16 - 1 1/4 15 pc set. I was pretty excited but I'm not sure it's something I should be using everyday, or how rare they actually are. Any feed back would be great.

I don't know about any one else but I would use them for sure unless they are in NOS shape I wouldn't fret about using them.

I would sell them to a guy like me who would probably trade them for a newer shiny set of Snap on wrenches.

I don't know how to explain it, but I'd rather have an older set -- LIKE YOURS -- than a brand new set that one can buy just by flagging down the Snap On truck.

And I would use them, but not every day because I am a tinkerer. But each time I used them I would be thinking how cool these vintage Snap On tools are. I would show them off to friends and family members who care about such things.

Older tools in my box would help me avoid all those pesky questions and comments like, "Have you ever used those tools, they look brand new?" "Those must have cost a fortune, maybe that's why you drive a hunk-o-junk."

I pretty much wrench on stuff exclusivily with older tools from the 50's and earlier. I love the way old Plomb or Snap on tools feel in the hand and they seem to be pretty stout. If they've lasted 60 years without breaking, whats another 50!

You would think that newer should be better but with tools that simply isn't always the case. I love using old tools especially if I get them rusted and I can bring them back to life. :D

Most thingsneweris better or if it isnt its cheaper. General hand tool quality has soared last5 few years, some of the premium are from the same "blanks" as the cheaper ones.
