1) i once stapled my kneecap with a "jury" rigged 3" staple from an air powered stapler.
2) i took an air chuck and inflated an empty chalk-line bottle till it blew up...the bottle burst so violently,i thought i ripped my fingers off, it didn't though. My hand was sore for several days and my ears rang for a couple of days.
3)I once spun dried a nylon encased bearing with an air chuck at 150 PSI for my car's front bearings. It made a sound like a police siren. My wife came outside to find out the source of the noise so i did it again....this time i spun it so fast it blew apart from the centrifugal force and sprayed me and the garage with steel bearings like a shotgun blast. One bearing hit my knuckle on my left hand and opened up a deep gash, after this i stopped playing around with air powered tools...too risky.

1975 - I finally get my first power tool a Craftsman Type-1 drill. I’m very proud of this drill but it seemed to be making a funny noise. So I’m out in the garage with my dad listening to my drill, moving it closer to my ear until my hair catches in the chuck and the drill smashes into my head. It’s 70’s, long hair. My dad didn’t see this happen so I unplug the drill and go in the house to untangle myself. It left me with a big knot and a sore scalp. I never told my dad.

first post for me..

Anyway..

When I was in my teens (10 years ago) I decided that I would put a set of struts on a Honda. How hard could it be.. long story short.. I didn't buy the nice expensive tool that gets bolted to the wall. I opted for the 30 dollar tool. Me and my friend split the price of the tool due to the fact that we were both poor. One strut came outta the car ok but the other strut was in two pieces! Had to get creative because the spring was still under a good amount of tension! That went fairly ok.. next step was to swap the springs over to the new struts. We compressed the spring (by hand) in a wooden vise and swapped the spring over onto the new strut. Scared the hell outta me! That was the easy one due to the fact that it was the strut that WASNT in two pieces. The other spring we compressed didn't go so well. Two times the tool we were using to compress the UNCOMPRESSED spring moved on us and the coil bowed out in the shape of the letter "D"! Somehow we were able to compress the spring and not get hurt. After that experience neither one of us wanted to own that tool! I think somehow my friend ended up owning it.... I said he could keep it.. I didnt want my money for it.

Love the site... I plan on being on here and posting more.
