I just built a detached garage and would like to upgrade my air compressor. I would be using it pretty sparingly, but I do have some medium-duty equipment (tractors, skid steer, etc.) that I will be working on from time to time.

I found an older Campbell Hausfeld 7HP 60 Gallon compressor locally (VT627503AJ) that looks like it is brand new. The guy said he used it for light-duty jobs for several years and it has been kept inside. He is asking $300. I have done some searches, but haven't found a whole lot about it. Do you think it is worth it?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Ricky

Sounds very similar to the one I have .w.o. checking the model #. You should get good service out of it, Is it about 11 cfm @ 90 psi? Yes it's not a "7 HP" motor.

Mine has given me good service for many years. I bought it new still on the wood skid, it had fallen during unloading, been damaged, and went to the scrapyard. I know the yard owner, and he gave me a great deal.

It is 10.3 SCFM @ 90 PSI and 125 PSI max. I read in another forum that the last 3 digits of the model # (3AJ) meant "3hp adjusted."

I don't see myself doing any body work where I'd use a sander or grinder for an extended time, but I will be filling up large tractor tires and using an impact wrench. I mainly want something I can install and not have to worry about for a while. Do you think this would last a while?

Yes, it will work fine. I use the same one. Check new prices before you buy that used one ;-)
