Hello all, been a long time viewer of this forum here and figured this would be a good place to post this box and see if any on has any info on it. I’m looking to purchase it for use in my home shop, it’s being offered to me a good price )i think) 1400$. I’m not too familiar with cornwell tools as I never had a rep or anything. But it’s decent size and want to make sure it’s the real thing and see if anyone can place a date or so on it. Thanks!

Short of all about abuse, the main thing that fails in more modern tool boxes are the roller slides. You may want to carefully check the condition and maybe even call Cornwall to confirm spare part availability.

That looks like an old Remline box to me. Cornwell used several different companies over the years waterloo, kennedy, remline, etc.

I believe remline folded up shop several years ago so, there would be zero parts support for this setup. Does it look purple in person?

$1400 seems a bit high to me but, I'm cheap. My guess would be late 1980's to 1990's. Back in the day Carquest sold a similar unit. I'm concerned that the only Cornwell badging is the small decal on the bottom box. There should be Cornwell badging on each piece of the set.
If you like the box because, of its drawer layout, overall footprint and condition, go for it. However, I wouldn't buy it for the Cornwell name.
I own a 20 year old Kennedy made Cornwell 60 inch wide set up but, Cornwell stopped supporting spare parts for it a long time ago. You wouldn't get any support from Cornwell if something went south on that setup. Good luck and welcome to the Journal

That's an odd one never seen a cornwell box in that color. Looks to be an 80s to mid 90s MBC box. Don't have that box in any of my cornwell catalogs but could be in one I don't have, But definitely looks like the mac/matco boxes that were being made around the same time.

I'd stay away from that. I looked into buying an '80s Cornwell box a few years ago and called them up. There was no support from them for the replacement slides I was going to need.

Looks beat up from all the high and low spots in the light and someone thought paint would cover that up. It would probably still go for $1000 in some areas though.

Is that a crack in the lower right corner of the frame on the rollaway?
Can’t quite make it out when I zoom in but it looks like a dark horizontal mark in the corner.
