I just bought an older 3/8 drive flex head, #42793, on ebay. I don't have any pictures yet. The mechanism was slipping and I decided to take it apart. The main snap ring was messed up. Is there any place to find a rebuild kit for it.

I have the exact same ratchet, 42793 - I found the thread that someone else posted but I couldn't find that particular repair kit for it on ebay.

I also couldn't seem to find the kit for my other 3/8 ratchet, 43785.

Neither are broken, I just wanted to see if I could find the kits so I'd have on on hand if one of them broke - no way I'd trade these ratchets in for an overseas-made one.

How about buy the fixed head version of that ratchet used as scavenge for parts

Bob

Yeah, that is what I'm going to do. I found an auction with 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 rebuild kits. The kit just says to reuse your direction switch.

I took a picture of a few of my teardrops with the new to me 3/8 flex.

I have a 43785 too. I just had it rebuilt at my local Sears along with a couple others(44808 and 44811). I told them when I dropped them off that I wanted to reuse the chrome switches. They did reuse it on the 44811 but not the 43785. However, they did return all the original parts to me. When I get time I plan to disassemble the 43785 and see if its possible to reuse the switch with the new internals.
I also ordered the kit from a seller on EBay along with kits for all of my other working ratchets just to have on hand. The part # for the rebuild kit for the 43785 is 43437. It also fits ratchet # 43784. The EBay seller still has 3 kits at this time. Heres the link if you are interested. (I have no affiliation, just passing along the info)
