That's going to be right around 1948-1950. Pretty much the only wear item in there is the bearings. There are no brushes or any maintenance parts on these grinders. It's 1/3 HP which is plenty for home use and it's a true 1/3 HP, not inflated.

Run it and if it sounds good, and you're happy with the price and condition then go for it.

I doubt you'll be able to find guards and if you do they won't be cheap. Making them can be a PIA.

I'd walk on anything that's not complete.

If it runs good and you're OK with no shields then sure, why not. That's actually a fairly rare body style, you don't see many like that one. It's a great looking tool.

You can find some shields on eBay with little fuss. Might not be correct to the model but they will still work. Here's an older pair of Baldor shields that might go cheap.
