So I have been looking alot for a box in the 500 dollar range. I need a chest for service work (will go on a work truck) and getting a little roller is a bonus. But I don't know the value of this box. What would you well educated guys pay for this?

And we have one that I think is identical in the shop that went through a shop fire before I was born lol

I'd say that's about a fair price for that toolbox. I have a MAC sidebox of the same vintage, it has the old fashioned drawer friction slides, so expect that box to be the same.

Can anyone point me toward a model number for this set of boxes? I just picked up a pair of these boxes and want to order some new friction slides.

Check the back it should be stamped model number. Something like MB910/920. IIRC the actual slides are hard to come by. Please let us know if you find out differently. Some of those were friction slides, some ball bearing. I think MB9200 were the ball bearing ones. :headscrat:

I have heard from several people, the older Mac boxes don't hold up on the road. The case liked to crack. I'm just throwing that out there.

The guys who ride the boxes hard over rough ground swear the ball bearings slides don't hold up as well as the old friction slide road chests.

i havent had a box that will survive hard road conditions. friction slides are better, than BB slides.
i've cracked the frame of every box ive had in a service truck.
