For the new shop I've been looking for a different tool box. Something I can store my 42,612 screwdrivers in along with the other tools I have way to many copies of. Yes, I need to pare down. That is in the plan. But I wanted a box that was not huge, not tall but still had lots of drawers.

I found this on FB Marketplace for $150. It is, I believe, a late 80's or early 90's box. And it is heavy. Two of us could not even begin to lift it in the truck bed. Had to use ramps and a come-a-long to get it loaded. Model MB1320 from what I can tell. The only thing I really need to do is to replace some of the drawer slides. The bearings are missing or have fallen out. Some of the slides have come detached. I think I need to change about 10 slides total. Other than that, I don't think I want to do much with it. I like the character it has from 30 years of shop use.

So far I can't find the exact replacement drawer slides. From a little research, Matco does not really even know what slides they are or who made them. So any suggestions on where to get replacement slides? I searched here on Garage Journal and I found information but I can't find the replacement slides for this box. Thought someone might have some good information. Or at least suggestions on what to try.

I really like the shallow drawers and not the deep ones that are on the new boxes. For my needs, this should be almost perfect once I get a couple boxes for the top.

So I needed over $400 worth of slides from Matco. Decided to try some other options. Went to lowes and purchased some 20 inch full extension drawer slides. With some modification, I took the original matco slide that attached to the drawer and pulled the new slide apart. The old drawer slide slipped into place on the new slides. The new slide that mounted to the inside of the box was indexed to the old slide and I mounted the new slide with a 3/16 pop rivets. So when I was done, it was new slide mounted on the case, new intermediate slide and original drawer slide mounted to the side of the drawer.

I am paying $20/pair of slides instead of $80/pair. The drawers are fitting great and sliding very smoothly.

Please post some pics of that - it would be edifying. Nice job.
