Older Curtis ML-5 air compressor lubrication?

Hi everyone,

I have an older Curtis ML-5 Masterline 5 HP air compressor. There is no oil filter or pressure gauge. I am wondering how to tell if it is pressure or splash lubricated? The Curtis website only mentions the newest series, which is built by FS-Curtis and not the now-nonexistent Curtis-Toledo company, like mine.

What would I look for, short of taking it apart, to tell if the pump is pressure lubricated or splash lubricated?

Thanks!

IIRC the manual shows neither dippers nor an oil pump. I haven't been able to find a service manual for the older ML-5 compressors, everything is for the new FS-curtis ones

Also, the FS-Curtis website states that they use a central ring to pump oil. I believe them, but I don't know how I would tell on mine short of dismantling it. I am hopeful that someone here has already done so or just knows the answer
