I have been looking for a little while for some vintage outdoor lighting for my pole building. I have always like the gooseneck porcelain style lights. Whenever I would find some though they were always beat to heck, way to expensive, or to far away.
Last week though I was able to score some 5 NOS porcelain light shades. Now I need to aquire the remaining pieces. I found these sockets https://www.barnlight.com/accessories/hardware/socket-assembly-coupler-7-wire/
but at $49 a pop I was wonding if anyone came across anything else like them and where I could find them.
I also need the gooseneck part as well. Was thinking of getting someone to bent some EMT and then paint it, but the above website also has that in powder coat which would be better for durability.

IMHO, Powder Coated beats currently available paint for Durability. After painting my front gate every year for several years, I took it to a Powder Coater several years ago.

I probably won't need to get it redone for several more years.

The arms were galvanized threaded conduit. EMT isn't really heavy enough if you want it to last like the originals.

I would bet barnlight is not making there own sockets so you just have to find them with out the barn name attached and I'm sure they will be cheaper.

Do vapor tight lights use this type of thread and nut?

Some of those need an oversized top flange -- the holes in the shades are big. The reproduction stuff sold today will not fit many of the old "real" stuff. I got mine off ebay --used --- in perfect condition. The flange has a grommet -- and the pipe is .. regular heavy pipe. I did a couple with straight pipe ... that is a nice look as well depending on the building

I think you did well at $49. I bought ones similar at $100 CDN but they did include socket bases. These were like new and were originally installed in 1954. I believe I have one base but but not the type you are looking for as they screw on to the shade.
While looking for these shades I did find a website in Chicago although they appeared to be a little pricey.

Miss P -- I have some like that.

Mine are strange: The cover is for the older smaller type hex electrical box -- and the fixture w/ socket has a quick disconnect. Do yours unscrew? The only reason I can figure for the design is the box screws are hard to attach if standing on a ladder with the shade in the way.

My bases screwed on fine to today’s octagon light boxes. Would your bases fit today’s boxes. If they do it might be a good idea to replace the boxes. The shades are threaded to screw to the bases.

The way mine were made up w/ rivet like connections I would have had to destroy them to get the mounting plate off. I was able to get some old boxes at one of the crazy flea markets we have around ... the old boxes were so heavy!

I have for of them and they were so unusual (the mount) I did not want to switch them out.
