Frank, I had one just like that, had to sell it when I was out of work for a while. I now have an older version. Very nice piece of equipment. Does present limitations as to what you can access under the vehicle, as do most mid rise lifts. Great quality, made with nice American metal and quality hydraulics. I'd rather have a used Rotary than a new Chinese lift. Hope that helps. John, Tolland, CT

I have one at my shop at home. It's air over hydraulic. I love it. I paid $700 bucks for it about ten years ago. Rotary makes a good safe lift.

Thanks guys. I'm having a hard time justifying $800 for a lift that is at least 10 years old. I keep looking at the Atlas mid-rise scissor lift for $1395 on the Greg Smith website... Is it worth spending more for a newer lift? What is the life expectancy of that cylinder and would it be costly if I had to rebuild it?

This is a low rise, a mid rise goes up about 50 inches or so.....

If 24" is enough, it will do well for you and looks to be in good shape - you can always offer him less.....

I'd want at least a mid rise if I were going to get one of these.......

I found this older Rotary floor lift for sale locally, it's just down the street from me.

I can't seem to find too much info online about it. I think it could fit my needs. Seems a bit pricey though. I found this link here on GJ: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34006

Anyone have experience/advise about this type of lift? Thanks guys!

Here are few pictures of it, if the link expires...

This is a parts breakdown for that style of lift. It looks like a Rotary MPAL-8 which was a 6,000 lbs. capacity portable scissors lift. (A parallelogram is altogether different, but a great word!) If I remember correctly, when that lift was being sold, it was in the $1800-$2400 range (market price). Today, it's probably $6-800 used.

I have the owner's manual as well, but file is too big to post. Send me an email and I'll be happy to get it over to you.

Depending on what it was used for, 10 years isn't all that long. More importantly ... you're talking about a lift that's built to last, and serviceable. Parts are easy to get, easy to install.

I still have this style of Rotary lift in my other shop. It worked well for what I had at the time. The shop had regular 9 ft ceilings and it was perfect for for working on my racecars at the time. You could still change transmissions on this lift as well.

My parents bought it used for a christmas present for me I think they paid 700$ probabaly 15 years ago. It still works great today. I only had to change out the piston seal once. They bought it because they figured it was safer than using a jack and jackstands all the time.

Sorry...the owner's manual is long gone and I can't even find the parts breakdown on the back end of the Rotary website anymore. If I run across it again, I'll be happy to post and send it out!

Recently acquired this same lift thats pictured on the first post. Operating but in need of some attention. would also like to request the Owners manual if possible. Thank You.

I searched online but all i could find are PDFs of parts from distributors.
it also came with a enerpac hush pump. works well enough.
