Older snap on chrome sockets

I now have metric and sae 1/2 drive shallow snap on sockets and the metric deep 1/2...All i need is the sae deep now. I found someone with them in like new condition but they are the older underlined snap on logo. Are they equal in quality to the new ones? And I imagine the warranty would be the same?

Yes to the quality, but technically, no on the warranty. According to the Snap on warranty it is in effect only for the original purchaser of the tools, although I have never had any of them ask me if I was the original purchaser. That includes Snap on customer service when calling them for warranty replacement so you should have no problem replacing tools that need warrantied. .

Kool....the Snap On guy lives a few streets over and i have taken him a few rusted and broken wrenches i found and he is always nice about it....He probably hates me

I just today sent out 19 different tools to Snap On to be replaced. Email them with a list of what you want replaced with the part numbers. They will then email you a paid postage slip which you print out and stick on the box of tools. Just drop it off at UPS or post office and away they go. Mac did the same for me and Matco came to my house to pick them up. I'm working on replacing some Crescent and Armstrong tools from Apex as we speak. They told me to make a list and they will provide me with the prepaid postage like the others. Pretty good deal if you ask me..

As a snappy dealer I have no problem replacing broken tools. I will not replace "rusted" tools. They end up getting sent back to me. Rusted tools are considered not a warranty item.

I usually tell the "flea market" guys to mail it in to snappy and it should be taken care of... But if I did it I'd up end up eating it.

Yea my neibor won't either for just rust but usually they are broken or chipped At the ends

Realistically, how much use will you likely get out of 1/2" drive deep SAE? Are you likley to break several of them? If not, you may find these sockets of excellent quality for a price low enough that if you find you break one, you can afford to pay retail for a brand new replacement and still be ahead financially.

I know this is an older post...but, what if I "found..." some very very old SO sockets that are both rusted and the chrome is peeling off? Will a truck guy replace them or will I ahve to send them back to SO HQ?

Just use them and skip abusing their return policy.

They might even be better quality than the newer ones provided we're talking about sockets made after Snap on introduced flank drive. As for warranty, as long as it is actually broken or the chrome flakes off, corporate will take care of it if your Snap on guy won't.
