Older Snap On torque wrench head locked up

I picked up this torque wrench for cheap on eBay last week and the ratchet mechanism is locked up. I plan to take it apart tomorrow to see what the issue is and I’m assuming I probably wouldn’t be able to get a head repair kit from snap on for it? I’ll get some better pics of it tomorrow since I don’t have it with me, but it seems to be from the 80s. I’ve taken snap on ratchets apart before and gotten them working with a simple cleaning so I’m hoping that’s all that this one will need. It’s a QJFR275D. I’m guessing there’s no difference in the heads compared to regular ratchets, correct?

Might be able to, but while researching it I saw people saying they couldn’t get parts or service from snap on. Worst case scenario I track down a replacement head for it and still come out with a cheap torque wrench.

They use the same repair kit as the standard 3/8 ratchet of the same era which would be the F730 I think?

That sounds about right. I’m gonna check the date code tomorrow and count the teeth.

Don't rely on their web page, fine a Truck, older dealer you can find, they always seem to have a stash.

Have a look inside it may just be something small, I work for a Cat Dealer and they usually source them part number 5P7444 is a 20 tooth and 5P7445 is a 30 tooth repair kit no dramas.

I took it apart this morning and it’s got some broken teeth. Gonna track down the local truck one day next week to see if he has a kit.

I have always been told Snap On tools are guaranteed, that is why they charge so much for them, just turn it in to your dealer.

Not torque wrenches, every one I've turned into the SO dealer for calibration or repair has been used as a trade in for its replacement.
