Maybe I'm the oddball but I've always like the sockets flat versus vertical....I know...vertical is much more dense..

Does anyone know who made the flat magnetic tray that SO used to carry., I can't find any more...

No idea who made them but there's a guy on eBay that used to sell them maybe still does, I'll see if he's in my favorite sellers although all I remember about him was that he was in Illinois (Ill residents paid tax).

I'm pretty sure I have one like you are talking about. I keep it setting on top of my toolbox because it's so low profile and easy to grab. It's basically a layer of steel, a magnet, then another layer of steel with the cutouts for the sockets.

If my email info is legit from when I bought it, it should be: Snap On Metric Magnetic Socket Holder SML38-120

If I think about it, I'll try to snap a pic tomorrow.

I believe JS is on the money on the one's I'm seeking...

Those Lisles - bleh. They don't hold sockets for sh1t. Well, maybe the 1/4 one. Mags are not big enough. It's only on the end
