Older Wilton vise & jaws for it

A friend gave me an older Wilton vise that he had tack welded some angle iron to the jaws. The angle iron wouldn't stay on & I tried adding some JB Weld later, which didn't work. Can I get inserts to fit this vise & if so, where? I don't even know if this kind of vise takes inserts or meant to have flat jaw faces like the angle iron. Any help appreciated.

Dukester,
Based on your pictures, that vise will need to be machined for jaw faces it fit. Then you can either make new faces, or order them.
Please go on to the Vises of Garage Journal with the same question. The experts there should have good answers.

Check here: www.wiltonviseparts.net He is a machinist that makes parts for Wilton's among others and sells them from a website. I have bought from him before and he's first class. They are not cheap, but I'd pay it to bring back a nice bullet vise like that. Clean it up and make sure new jaws will fit without machining new faces. Good luck removing that mess!

Oh, ouch! Somebody really f-ed up that vise!

What a shame, that was once a nice C series Wilton combination vise that cost several hundred dollars new. Whoever tried to weld on it truly didn't know what they were doing.

The lower support lip is broken off on both jaws. You would at the very least need to have each jaw machined flat for new inserts. You'd probably be better off selling the usable parts (swivel base, hold downs, pipe jaws & pins, collar, maybe main nut.)

I'd like to see him get the main nut out----the rear cover was welded on!
