Am looking to upgrade my scissor game.

Wanting a pair for the tool box/garage which would be heavier duty use. And a pair for the house which will be lighter use.

For the tool box/garage I was thinking: Olfa (SCS-2) 7" Heavy Duty serrated: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LE3SEU/?tag=atomicindus08-20

For the house I was thinking: Olfa 112B: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D3G51G/?tag=atomicindus08-20

But I don't know if I want a serrated edge for the household scissors.

Also can anyone confirm:

Length provided in the product description, is that overall length including handles or is that the blade length?

Are all Olfa scissors Made in Japan? I saw on one Amazon listing that the country of origin was Spain.

Thank you.

Those 7" scissors are 8.66" long overall. Looks to me like the blades are just a bit less than 4" long.

If you do get them, please reply back on how you like them.

I'm a big fan of Olfa & own quite a few of their cutters, I looked at getting their scissors but wasn't sure if I'd like them. I know their colors are yellow & black but I don't own any Olfas in yellow, not even their hobby style knives. I bought the Tamiya ones (made by Olfa) just because they were black. Edit: I lied, my Olfa circle cutter & rotary cutters are yellow.

Anyways Olfa does have black ones not sold in the US market & those are made in Japan IIRC. Not sure about the others. The yellow Olfas just seem a bit short for my liking. I do have some short ulitity scissors but they aren't ones that I use often.

Me personally I would think serrated for utility/garage/shop use & smooth for home use. That's what I did anyway, I still find myself preferring to use smooth more, I rarely use my serrated scissors. I'm assuming serrated should hold their edge longer & be better for tougher use. I think I could live without them though.

Olfas are nice and light, I have used a set in a mobile bag. Nice for that purpose. If you are Ok with the overall lightness, I've had no complaints with them. If you are looking for "shop scissiors" with some heft they may not fit that bill.

As noted above, the "7 inch scissor" is more likely the overall dimensions, and less likely referring to a 180mm blade length.

Check these out for household usage. Even though they say industrial, not sure I’d cut carpet or other stupid stuff I do in the garage. They have a full line, click around. Many US made, some in Japan.

Those little ones in your first link are a frustrating size for me, fit only for string or ribbon. 2nd link would not open

I use these in the garage.

I was eyeing the SCS-2 for a while too, if they had them in a local store I'd probably already buy them. Olfa is definitely quality stuff, the Japanese don't mess around.

Those are both the exact same scissors just different part numbers for Japan / USA. I’ve used these scissors for a few years now and I love it, it has a serrated edge and straight edge you just flip it. One side will leave serrations on the right side of cut, the other left side of cut.
I would also recommend getting the Facom snips/shears they have an offset one and a straight that is a great general purpose shop shear.

Also included a picture, I love the small bladed knife it’s my most used cutting tool
