Oliver 36” Bandsaw $100…as scrap

This 1926 (1929?) Oliver 36 bandsaw went for $100 at auction in VA yesterday and the buyer is going to scrap it. What a shame

"Scrap" as in 'Part it out' I would guess. If selling it to a crusher for weight they could make a profit but at what cost in time, fuel, and headache to move that monster? Either way I agree "What a shame."

Thats the problem with older large machines. No one wants to deal with the wiring, the moving, or the space they take up. Hense they scrap them.

Any large machinery or industrial auction or sale has scrap dealers bidding, they will take anything they can profit on if nobody else buys it.

Can barely get anyone to take scrap here, never mind pay for it. Often cheaper to put it in the dumpster.

The Essential Craftsman on youtube is looking for a big bandsaw. Buy it off the guy and ship it to Oregon........
