I e-mailed the CanExel company and this is the reply I got:

"Thank you for contacting Louisiana Pacific.

Canexel is not available in the Northeastern part of the US. It is a Canadian made product (Nova Scotia) and is sold in places such as Rona and Tim-Br Mart in Canada.

I love this build, the outside is fantastic, and the siding is way cool!!

Looking forward to seeing how it finishes out.

I have a brother in Ithaca. Close to that or at other end of state?

Beautiful building. I want to build something very close to this. Probably 40X60 with 16ft walls. I want to have a 14 ft high door I live in Central Illinois and love the look of the older barns. Thank you for posting the pictures of this awesome barn. Looking back, would you change anything?

I love old barns, haveing grown up on a farm I knew my garage was going to look like one. My house is in up-state NY in a small farming town and most of the farms were settled in the late 1800s. The majority of the barns were simple buildings with metal roofs with loose hay doors up in the center pf the peak with the roof line extended for coverage. The shop was built to look like it had allways been there just as I described. Its 28'X32'X10', I whish it was 16' high because I now have a lift(oops). It is well insulated which makes it comfortable in both summer/winter. Don't know how I lived without it. The interior is finished with rough cut 1"X6"s and the walls are covered with my collection of old signs,NASCAR memorabilia, oil cans, and other stuff. Dad and myself worked many years out in the snow and heat and it is a treat to work on my antique cars, trucks, and tractors. Good luck with yours, it looks wonderful!

If you don't mind me asking what was the total cost. I'm looking to turn something like this into a house. Get it weather proof and work on it as I go. And if any one has done this any input would be great.

pgnavy, where are you? I'd really like to see more and I'm also interested in how the gutters held up to snow sheets sliding off the roof. The gutters on my barn got pulled off and the fascia board with them the first winter. The builder came out and put them back on but suggested dropping them below the roof line. I was hesitant and declined. But maybe I should do that. I really don't want snowbirds.

pgnavy, thank you very much for the extensive sharing on this project. I recently came across this and am curious if you would share more about the total cost of the project for us? Thank you!
