One car garage "and" motorcycle trailer?

So I was planning on purchasing my next property with a two car garage, but something came up and the property I'm looking at is just a one car garage. There goes all my plans for a nice two car garage, trailer on one side , bike in front, and the other half as a working garage.

Any of you have keep a trailer In Your garage and still made the garage look nice?

HF foldable trailer isn't an option as it's too flimsy for my v rod. I saw another manufacturer with foldable trailers. It $2K - $3K +.

Consider hoisting it against a wall when not in use.

I think that V-Rods weigh somewhere around 700 lbs wet. This Harbor Freight foldable trailer has a weight capacity of just under 1200 lbs. One thing that can be done with the HF Trailers is to get them assembled making sure everything is square, then weld the corners and the crossmembers. This will provide extra rigidity. You could even add a couple extra crossmembers to help with the load.

I'm not sure what the bolt pattern is for the trailer wheels that are the 12" wheels, but it shouldn't be a big deal to upgrade the wheels and tires to a 13" size. That will provide more of a weight range and not raise the floor height so that it would be harder to get the bike on the trailer.

One other thing to make sure of with these HF trailers is to carefully inspect the bearings. Remove and clean them and re-pack with a good wheel bearing grease. Carry a spare set of bearings and races. They are a common size so you can get them at any trailer sales place.

Assuming you're thinking of Kendon folding motorcycle trailers when you say the "other" maker was $2-3K, I recommend looking for a used one. They are a high quality trailers which retain their value well. They typically trade used for a bit over $1K and properly maintained they retain their value very well.

I know allot of people with these trailers and none of them have anything but good things to say about them.

If your 4-wheel is a pickup truck, consider a Rampage lift. That is what I use when I need to transport more stuff than my Harley can carry.

When not in use, the Rampage is tucked away under some wall cabinets. It is on a sled I made with roller wheels. I installed a hoist in the ceiling to on and off load the Rampage. No fuss, not much effort.


Look on Craigslist for a resale Rampage.

Just rent a u-haul trailer when you need one. If you need one more than that find a used Kendon. Depends on how often you need to haul your bike, but rental is cheap and you don't have to store the trailer. Heck you can even rent an enclosed trailer and keep your bike out of the weather during the haul, and avoid the embarrassment of being seen towing your bike, rather than riding it.

That seems like an option, hoisting it sideways on the wall. Can someone shed some light on this option? Yeah, put a hoist up and pull it up...sounds easy, but.... For example how would it pivot on the ground as it goes up

Wow I like that. I wonder how he got the chains to connect to one point on top since he is only using one HF hoist.
