This is my garage:

shop01.jpg

I inheirited my grandparents house and this was my Grandfather's wood shop. He was a housing contractor and built this house and garage and also my dad's house ( the house I grew up in).

The garage is 20X26 not including the carport. It has basic electric (fuses, not breakers - it was built in the 50's). I need to reside it and upgrade the electric. I haven't posted it on here before, because I haven't started any serious projects on it yet. The size makes it a comfortable 1 car garage. There is room to work on all sides of a vehicle. Technically it is big enough for 2 cars, but since it was designed as a wood shop, the doors and general orientation are not set up for doing that. Thre is a tidal creek on 2 sides of it so I don't think expanding it will be an option for me. The big space advantage it does have is that it is set back from the street (it is 140' from the street curb to the bay doors) so I have room for about 7 cars in the driveway.

Eventually I will build a place out in the country and I hope to have a 30X40 garage attached to that house, but that is a few years off.

I second Jim's recomendation! A pump and maybe an old Lubster would set this off. Something else that is popular in my area: a 6' foot bench showing an advertisement from the 50-60's era and your buddies names whittled in the wood!. One guy was even brave or crazy enough to add his old sweethearts names under the seat! Keep us posted.

this is the garage I'm tentatively planning on building.
it's about 16'x20' and 17' tall with a loft.
i'm EXTREMELY limited by the confines of my lot. it's narrow, lakefront, and I have a septic, so there are lot of setbacks and spots I can't build

Here's my tiny 10x20' one-car. I'm pretty happy about the amount of stuff I've been able to cram into it. It's not pretty, but it works.

- One car (duh!)
- Room for 7 sets of extra wheels and tires for our cars (yes, 28 wheels with tires, possibly more, not counting the ones on the car).
- Room for 4 hanging bikes
- Full size fridge for beer
- Shelfs along two walls (pantry, etc)
- Modest tools for working on the car (3 floor jacks, jack stands, ramps, oil extractor, etc)
- Garbage & recycling, dog food, etc.

We'll be moving soon and I'm hope for something MUCH bigger. I'll start a separate thread on that.

Heres the one at my condo - very small. Holds 1 jeep wrangler, two garbage cans, a bicycle and a water heater. I need to pull the Wrangler out to take out the garbage cans.

Here's a pic of my old townhouse garage when it had one motorcycle, workbench and shelves, two bicycles and my car:

I have since moved into a new house w/o a garage !!!!
Never fear, I have one that is in the planning stages and hopefully will be going up this spring!

ever go to the r6messagenet.com?

I used to be on there a long time ago. The R6 is actually a friend's that doesn't have anywhere to store it right now.

Here is my 14x20 garage crammed full of stuff before I cleaned most of it out & cluttered up the 18x32 shop that I am renting. The garage was cozy for sure, but now it mainly has my '46 Dodge half-ton, '79 Yahama XS1100 Special and basic household/yard stuff. It's simply amazing that I can actually move around in the garage w/o banging into stuff.
