Garages are for projects and special cars, the daily drivers don't fall into either of those categories.

I'm surprised though, did someone tell her that her car could be parked in the garage? :):) We have a small garage attached to the house, with one of our Model A's in it. There is also a 40"x30" garage in the back yard that has our other Model A, plus several projects and then all of the tools.

I have 2 24x24 garages, one has a tiny little car a '56 Nash Metropolitan and lots of tools and ****. The other has my 1950 Plymouth Suburban 2 door wagon and all of the pieces of it spread from one side to the other. My wife's car was inside with the wagon about 2 years ago. I have been given freedom to do whatever I want as long as I make room for our truck before next winter. I am honestly just tired of having her start it and go back in the house each morning, I fear that one day someone will drive away with it and have my insurance tell me tough luck, you left it running.

Don't have a garage yet, but have already discussed it. For now, the soon to be wife will get one stall of the garage. I'll leave my truck outside during warmer months and use the other bay for working/motorcycle stuff. Winter time (in Connecticut), I'll have to compress everything inside. My tool collection is pretty miserable so one stall should cover it. Once I start making real money and build it up, she may get kicked out. At least in the summer.

Wife does have a small area for some of her junk in the garage. That being said the garage is OFF LIMITS to her. She has NEVER been in there in 3 years. My garage is 25' x 50'. I have two stalls at the back of the 50' side and one big stall on the other end of the 25' side.

For the most part, the garage is a mess and needs to be cleaned. All I have for cars in there is an old diesel Jetta and a big riding mower as well. My Cushman sits outside. :(

Rules are: as long as she can park the car in the garage, I can do whatever I want with the rest.

Her car barely fits in the 2.5 car garage.

wifes car is the only daily driver in our 26x26. My vehicle sits out, because I have been to lazy to clean or organize my side of the garage. No big deal.

I have a 22x22 and we've only parked one car in there on a few occasions. Once my TATA is up and running it will be it's home.

My garage is used for storage and Motorcycles. The car and truck live in the driveway. I'm in process of re organizing and thinning out some stuff. Paints and other house remodel materials (a lot of what is in the garage) is going in the shed. Old fridge and 3x5 drafting table are going to leave the area as well. I want to sell a few bikes and then keep mostly tools and bikes in there and make room on one side for her little car as long as I'm not in the middle of a project.

I also get to share my garage with the washer and dryer. Really common out this way for homes in the 70's. I'd like to meet the designer who thought that was a great idea and punch him in the face! Why they could not have bumped the garage out 10 foot to make room for a indoor Laundry room I have no clue. Would not have cost much more money. The other problem is 2 seperate doors. Hard to even get my truck in the garage.

Just need a seperate shop and a nice garage to park 2 cars and lawn equipment in.

4 car garage and daily drivers never park in there (well my motorcycle does when it rains hard).

The Dino and car projects are in the garage, her car, my truck are outside.

I am a pack rat so I have to enforce upon myself a rule. I can't own it if it isn't inside. My daily drivers, and projects are the second biggest investment I have and I am not about to have someone do $1000 in damages to get a $100 worth of stereo. Plus they stay clean longer, the paint looks better on them all of their life and I don't scrape ice off of windows. If I didn't enforce this the vacuum created by that emty space would **** out the soul of my little pack rat with junk.
As a side note, people have turned around in the driveway and left thinking we were not home since they didn't see a car in the driveway so aparently I don't think normally.

My garage is 24' x 40' so it's really a four car. In the winter I try to make room for my wife's car but it doesn't always happen. When she can put her car in there I have to run the table on the milling machine all the way over to make room for it.

"You want to park in the garage? Fine. See that 74 firebird? Happy birthday, it's yours now. Congratulations on your new parking spot, here's some sand paper."

My garage is bigger than my house and still - NEITHER of us parks our daily drivers in the garage - no room even if we wanted to.

No kids bikes, no lawn mowers, no weed wackers, no pots, potting soil - nothing - just my junk! Oh wait - I do have the 2 kids electric scooters in there & I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of those!!!

Offer to get her a remote start - that ought to do it!!! ;-)

I have a four-car (24x40) that doesn't have any cars stored in it at all. It is my workshop.
The garage on the house has two cars in it, and one bay that I use for projects.

I have a 24x26 and most of that is taken up with my tools and stuff.
Come winter time, the wife gets to park inside. It gets cold and snowy here and I will not have my wife scraping ice off her car in -35c weather at 7:00am.

The garage may be mine and the house hers but she takes pretty good care of me in the house.

standard 20x20 here. It used to have a car in the garage... my Sunday car. The wife and I have an understanding, the garage is mine - especially since we...I had to give up my 3 car garage to buy this house.

A house remodel and a recent deadbeat addition to the house (mother-in-law) and the only thing my garage holds is 2 engines in varying degrees of disassembly, my recliner, my chaise, my tools, various cabinets from the house, my sled, my fridge, my tv and stereo and 6 dining room chairs. Oh and her Cherry colored front loading washer and dryer. I think I have a path to the garage door... I think.

Anymore I think garage means place to store ****... one day it will be clean again... one day.

I manage to keep two cars in the two car garage, but I do use one spare bedroom for parts storage so that might be cheating ;).

I have a 3 car garage that I manage to keep 3 cars in along with a 2,000 fork lift and a chopper. It is tight but I am working on finishing everything and getting it more organized.

2 car garage, the family car (2003 Chevy Trailblazer EXT) and my Project 69 VW Fastback are in there, as well as my tools, my loading bench ,etc etc. I'm fine with the family car in there, but no house ****. every once in a while my wife tries to say , well, cant you store it in the garage for me? , I remind her of our agreement, the garage is mine and anything that doesn't fit in the shed doesn't go in my garage! she's a little hurt for a while but then realizes i need an area that's mine , that the kids don't mess with and that isn't filled with **** from the house

Fresno is usually in the top 10 for auto thefts. In my area leaving a car out means a high probability of it going away or at least being rummaged through. I work as an appraiser and see about 350 garages per year. That would put my total garage viewing at somewhere north of 8,000. I'd say if you're putting one car in a two-car, you're doing better than 75% of the garages I've seen. When we had a two-car the shed was my shop and I had a boat project in one stall and my wife's car in the other. It's a black Tahoe and Fresno is 100-115 in the summer. Making her hop into that just didn't seem right.

The solution is really simple.......a bigger garage.

Like others have stated, and I share the same view at my house; the garage is mine and how and what I decide to do in there is up to me. I tell my wife that I won't ever walk into her kitchen and say I'm putting my sandblast cabinet where the dishwasher space is or that I'm storing screwdrivers and saw blades in the silverware drawer. I also don't go in the laundry room while she is washing clothes and insist that she wash this shirt with those colors, etc. you get the picture. My wife and I have a perfect agreement.

I like the idea of the wife's car fitting in the garage. It's the nicer of the two vehicles. Once I finally get the shop in order, one side will be for her car, the other side is for the shop and motorcycle.

It's the way it's been since we first had a house with a garage. When I need more work space, I just wheel her car out onto the driveway to keep the sawdust off. At the end of the day, I push everything back to my side and wheel the car back in.

I don't know how they call this a two car garage as I don't see how two full size cars could fit in it to begin with.

One side is my work space, tools, saws, and 2 cycles. The other side has some storage and enough room for a vehicle, which is only allowed in during the winter. I don't allow it to be parked until I'm not working on something in there. Many a night she's forced to walk out in her pajamas and a parka to pull her car inside after she's already in bed. My feeling is I am allowing her the access to my garage, so if she wants in, work for it. Lol.

A few times she's tried to complain, and guess who's car was outside for the next week because my table saw was moved over into that bay.

I have a small 20x20 attached garage. 99% of the time my car is inside. My wife's car makes it in about 85% of the time. When I buy a new toy (tractor, motorcycle, etc.) her car gets displaced. I have a 12x12 shed that houses my main tractor and used to store my motorcycle (when I had it), but it has slowly been invaded by my kids. My garage has alway been organized, but I recently snapped over all the non-car **** that's made it's way in. I recently moved my refrigerator and compressor into my basement to make more room. I have a new tool box coming Monday and I just put in a new Gladiator workbench and cabinets. I won't have one of the model garages seen on this site, but I do like having room for my tools and 2 cars.....if anything needs to be worked on I move both cars out and park in the middle.

I've had my two in the garage a few times, but her car has always stayed in the driveway. Now, I've got way too many toys to get my second car in there. My wrangler occupies one side, and the parts occupy quite a bit of the other side :)

She's got remote start on her car, and I've been considering putting one on my dd recently also.

Controlling of my garage? Yes, yes I am!

just so you know, she's laughing her **** off reading this. She rules 3000 sf. of house, and I'm the one that has to walk the dog in the crappy weather and has to strip down before I'm allowed in the living room. Says she just let's me THINK I'm in charge.

So, don't judge what you don't know, we all have our crosses to bare.

In my house, we eat the weak.

Interesting...being a person who sees lots of garages...how many of them actually have a shop in them?

I have a large 3 car garage, and it has only one car in it, my hot rod.

Same here, my 65 Vette and every tool and piece of garage equipment you can think of.

She knows better than to even mention parking in there. If I ever build my dream garage than she can have the 3 car all to herself, until then it's mine.
