"Your ad said you had tools?"
"Oh, my husbands, out with the kids, He will be a back later to set the tools out. you can come back in ten or fifteen minutes..."
An HOUR after they started?... "I'll be ten miles away by then..."
All the others were dead, except one that was nothing but new HF...
The one good one had these (and a lot more, but the owner told me most of it was scooped up before I got there...)
Craftsman 16" pry bar "V" series
Star (only maring on it) angle slip joints with 4 positions (So was probably competing with The Channel lock patent.)
Plvmb open end
Craftsman double box, with the Long C markings so mid 30's to mid 40's
A "Newer" Bonney Open end,
S&K Pro polished 15mm combo
And one 4" Crescent wrench (Red paint) shown with the one I carry all the time because they are marked similar, but different...
All for a five,
Main difference is they are marked on opposite sides, and the "new" one is a shade thicker
My old one says its, "Forged CRESCENT Alloy"
The new one says "Drop Forged" and "Made in USA"
Neither say "Crestolloy", which started around 1930, so the question is; did they stop using Crestolloy at a later date, or are these both pre 1930?
I'm inclined to think Pre 1930, as both are marked with the Jamestown N.Y. location.
My old one has a "56" near the hole, and the new one has an "F" .
One last odd thing is the "new" wrench has a tiny spring (no more than 2 turns) sitting in a recess in the top of the adjusting wheel to keep tension on it. Ive never noticed a spring before on a crescent wrench
