I'm not feeling well so I just borrowed the pics from the web instead of taking pics.

I went into one of our second hand stores and saw this. I noticed it had a siren function, and knew right away what it was going to be. $4.50s-l1600.jpg
I had one of these laying around, that I replaced on a trailer. FreeAJC-D4.5S_15224928-60dc-4cc4-854a-318328f970f1_1800x1800.jpg
Bought one of these to keep it charged. $10.0071VG-bSGV6L._AC_SX679_.jpg
Bought this for the door. $10.0051pmPvMTHFL._AC_SX522_.jpg
Used this to connect it all. Had it laying around. Free (I don't throw much away)2672657175_10e7849d08-1.jpg
A few crimped ends, a couple of spare brackets and a zip tie later, and I have one hell of a loud alarm system for my shop. Not installed yet, but the bench test went 5 minutes with no volume loss. We stood outside it was that aggravating. Not bad for about $25.00

No need to suffer when testing, when doing police preps I stuff rags in the horn, much more tolerable, cool idea though.

Great thinking and way to save money.
One question though, how do you arm it without having it on until you close the door? Did I miss something in the design circuit?

I thought of doing something similar years ago with a siren and motion light. Take out a bulb and replace it with a screw plug. Plug a siren into the outlet.

That is a sweet alarm! Reminds me of years ago when our Christmas decorations were being vandalized nightly. After talking to the police about what I could legally do, I used a 6 volt battery, one toggle switch, 3 metal stakes, some black fishing line, and a cheap Radio Shack buzzer to rig an alarm that would go off if anyone snagged their foot on the black fishing line while trying to get to the decorations. The alarm was in the house, so that I would know to dash out the front door and nab the suspect. About 2 days later, I ran out to find 2 pre-teens running away after hearing the door open. I nabbed the closest and led him by the arm into my foyer where I threw the deadbolt lock and gave the kid the choice of giving me his name and home phone number or having the police summoned. The father started in on me until I explained that I had already discussed my options with the police and if he preferred me to call them I would be happy to oblige. We didn't have any more damage to our decorations!

With your rig, I could have scared them to death and saved the running!
