I've tried Google but must not be using the correct terms.

I'm putting together a hybrid steel/wood garage. The gambel roof is 18 feet at the peak and one side has a steep slope away from the building making the use of a ladder hazardous.

I've got a scissor lift for some of the work but wondered if anything like a pulley ssytem exists that I could anchor at the roof and pull myself up or down the endwall so I could perform some of the sheet metal install safely.

Any help you can provide would be helpful.

You would need at least a 4:1 system, and with that you would need a pretty stout anchor too.

Rent a rough terrain boom lift and be done in a much shorter time than climbing around on ladders. Dinking with a homebrew block and tackle rig isn’t worth the hassle.
Boom lifts with up to 80 foot or more reaches are available.

That's probably the smart thing to do. Are you referring to a boom lift with a bucket?

You have a sissor lift but want to use a rope to pull your self up? How are you getting up there to anchor the rope?

Yeah, like a JLG or Genie lift. My BIL rents them all the time for his contracting business. Often, it costs him a little more than renting scaffolding for the job, but the time savings more than makes up for it.

I just called the place where I rented my scissor lift. They'll be sending me a quote for a boom lift shortly. Thanks for the advice.

I may be overkilling it with the equipment but I've saved a ton of money already doing most of the work myself with friends.

I made a little trailer ( about 6 foot wide by 8 foot long ) to pull behind my lawn tractor, with a set of scaffolding that can be put on it, on the trailer, there is a set of steps on the back of it, ( i do not think I have any pictures of it in use),

I used it for stuccoing my buildings,
