One more reason I attend garage sales?

Hottest $22.00 garage sale tool find of the year. And of all places in a small town north of San Francisco. They are 1/ 2” universal joint impact sockets in a plastic case that has a Northern Tool emblem. Inside are eight SAE from 3/8” to 13/16” hex sockets and eight Metric from 13 mm to 21 mm. The black oxide coatings are near perfect and looks as if they were never used. And are stamped with “Chrome Vanadium Steel”. That’s $11.00 each set. A great find if I exclude travel expenses…

Well, I live in a town a little north of San Francisco, grew up in SF and noted your earlier vacation post, but I digress.
I have a set of the non universal "Chrome Vanadium Steel" impacts from Northern with the same finish. Be careful, two have split on me and I do not think I was abusing them. One (5/8) spun a piece of the side wall out into space when it let go on its first use and the other simply opened up. It seems to me that the side walls on some sockets are very thin. The edges of the fractures looked granular for whatever that is worth.

SCORE!!! Wow what a find, I think I will start to hit some local garage sales now myself after seeing what great finds you all have gotten.

SoCal at 7am people are cruising all the yardsales, not even stopping just yelling "tools?". By 7:30 its all old kids clothes and furniture.

OTOH find the right yard sale and it can be sweet.
