One pic Value/Conversion

There is a tube heater on auction near me. I have only 1 pic and would need to convert to propane. I know GJ guys are good, but are you good enough to tell me the value of this unit and the approximate cost to convert with only 1 pic?

Value: What someone is willing to pay.

Conversion: Get the manufacturer name and model/serial number, then call them for a conversion kit, if it is available.

Make sure you get all the hardware, reflectors and all of the tube- especially the starting tube sections.

I grew up in Wheaton IL. I now live in MN and need a heater!

I hope to get a chance to get the model number, but I was hoping that there was a chance somebody might know something.

Yep, we know to say that we know nothing without details!

Were this me, I'd bid up to my 'throw away' amount--that is the amount of money that I'm willing to walk away from if it turns out to be not feasible to use it.

It's for sale for a reason, maybe someone just didn't need it or more likely it's broken and it was cheaper to replace then repair. Conversion parts could be from 20$ to unobtainable depending on manufacturer.

If it was known to be in good operating condition when it was removed and every single part and bracket was there and the size and configuration was exactly what I needed and it is a brand that has currant parts availability I might go as high as 100$-200$.

If there were any questions as to operating condition, parts availability or if it looked like anything was missing I would only go as high as 25$-30$, at least then I could get half my money back in scrap.

Those tube heaters also throw off a lot of heat.

Excluding the company that makes a unit specifically for low, residential style ceilings, those commercial tube heaters will bake you and your stuff if they aren't installed ~15' to 20' up.

They are expensive to buy new, but if that pile of parts isn't complete it is a pile of scrap.

The only way I'd buy something like that is if it was working before I dismantled it carefully for re-use.

Hey Ramper... If nothing else, look through the local Craigs List for used residential / house Furnaces that burn your kind of fuel. They typically go very cheap. I installed a 100k BTU unit in the corner of my old shop, put a manifold on top ($30) with a couple of grills in it and was toastyt warm for a good long time.
