For your entertainment, I took this photo of a one-ton shackle today. I wanted to put a one-ton shackle on top of the nut of the one-ton shackle to show scale, but I couldn't find one that small in this shop. My foot will have to do...

Working load limit on this particular unit is about 500 tons. :)

What did that thing do for a living? I don't suppose you have any battleships around in Illinois...

I think the drum behind it really provides enough scale.
I'm just waiting for some joke about somebody's mother in law. . .

Second on the drum for size comparison. I wouldnt have thought it was that big with just the foot for comparison. That thing is massive.

I have a cotter pin that is almost big enough for that guy!

Really big stuff is just cool, if total impractical at home...

I believe I'd be laying that thing down, on a couple of 2x4s so I could get under it to get it back up.

I hate the thought of a little car leaf spring falling over and landing on my foot--that beast starts to tip, or the bottom scootches out and it starts to fall, and there's no stopping it... anything in its way isn't really gonna do much but break or squish.

You could set it out by the street with a For Sale sign on it and videotape scrappers trying to load it into their truck to steal it!

Yeah, I got one of those from Harbor Freight for only $600. It hasn't broken yet, so I guess it's pretty good!

Too bad you didn't use your 20% off coupon. I got mine for $480. Mine broke lifting 300 tons though. Good thing I got the warranty.
