Hey guy's ,
I am one week from having the interior of my new pole building installed and just wanted to see if there are things that I may have over looked along the way such as extra bracing for shelves and lofts , etc. .
So please give me some ideas and I will keep an eye out to see what we come up with .
It is a 30x50x15 I have a good amount of outlets , lights are wired .

Thanks in advance for any and all ideas ! have a great day !

How about all your low voltage wiring?

cable/antenna tv (including antenna rotator, if needed)
low voltage for garage door openers
phone
data
doorbell
alarm wire
cameras

Ceiling fan outlets & switches, garage door opener outlet, exterior outlets, jackshaft opener outlet, 3 way switches, wired speaker placements, exterior floodlights, high track garage door.

Interestingly one of the very last things I'd place in a wall is an air compressor line. If needed to move or modify it would be trouble. But, I would do the rough layout in the ceiling, with short drops that would be measured/set to be on the interior after the walls were finished. A personal preference I guess.

Matt ,
good call on ceiling fan outlets .
the attic will be accessible and I will have two extra lines of power ready to be hooked up at any time , with very little effort .
my brother is an awesome electrician .
no speaker wires as I just can not get a stereo that lasts anymore weather it is a sony , pioneer , onkio ...... technology HATES me !
I just roll with an old style boombox that plays cd's and cassettes . lol

Dust handing ducts and possibly central vacuum piping are a couple of things that would be dependent on what crafts you are going to do in the shop. Hot and cold water for a sink would be a help in just about any craft you choose. And you really can't have too many outlets and don't forget to allow for future with empty conduits for 240 loads you cannot imagine needing now.

How are you venting the space. Do you need wall fan inlets or space for a mini-split?

You could go crazy here. Maybe run some empty conduit along the inside of the wall. One run about 18 to 30 inches above the floor and another near the ceiling. If you ever need to run a cable the conduit is there. Then in the future you only would need to open the wall where you need to do a drop.

Get whatever in there and take photos...lots of pictures and reference markers...like tape on the floor to delineate every two feet or so...that way you can find stuff, avoid it or add cabinets and know what is behind the finish.

I totally agree with taking photos of all interior walls and ceiling. It's been only three months since my garage build was finished and I have already needed to use the photos to hang cabinets, design a motorized attic lift and find an outlet the drywall guys covered up.

I have done this with two house builds and this garage and my only regret is that I never seem to take enough photos. There is always some detail or angle shot you wish you had taken. And, I'd advise not leaving the pics in your camera whatever type you use. Make prints of them and store them in a safe place. You will be using them in the future.

Being in a digital world, take tons of pictures, even photos of stuff that you think are totally irrealavent. I could not begin to count how many times I've gone back to get info from my pictures.

I have a bazillion 110 outlets high and low as well as 30 and 50 amp 220 plugs on the walls. I wish I had placed a couple of the 220 outlets in the ceiling so I could have a simple drop to equipment. When not connected I would have a couple hooks in the ceiling to hang them off. I did my walls in vertically set plywood. I can be into any section of my walls in about 10 minutes for adding or correcting ;), things. My walls are 10' and I used 8' ply with a horse 1x4 band at the top seam going from the 8' to the 2'.

I was going to 'notch' the concrete on the center of studs. Just a little nick with a dremel tool's wheel to avoid a lot of research and stud-finder work later on. May be a little different for a post frame...
